Turbo guru's, I need some help!

Postby DE80q » Sun Aug 12, 2018 4:53 pm

I picked up a Porsche upgrade turbo the other day, and I need some help identifying what it is. As you will see in the pics, it has ITS on the compressor housing. It uses a replica #8 housing, which has an almost 2.5" out. The compressor wheel measures 76mm/57.8mm, the turbine measures 70.78mm/61.5mm. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been told on the S2furum that I his is a T58 from innovative turbo systems. I wonder if this will be ok on my old 10vt...

That's the plan. Going to start ordering and collecting the oil and water line parts.

hot fire comes out the exhaust, and the intake likes compressed cold air. This device appears to match those criteria.

Send it.

Pretty much, it's a 58mm turbo, should be good for 4-500 wheel. The power curve may not be the greatest though.

in all seriousness, what happened to the hy35 and the tube header? The hy seems like it might be a better spooler.

This is what I was worried about Jim. The seller was not very informative about what turbo this was. I honestly think he may not have known what it was either. I'm currently running a 6500 redline, and have no idea where this turbo will kick in. Do you think going to E85 would help?

Dana, I was expecting a smart ass answer from someone, but didn't expect it to be you haha. As for the HY, unfortunately, life got in the way and ended up selling off a bunch of things to make ends meet. I'm now in a much better place in life, so I'm looking at trying to do more with it again.

That’s a pretty big hot side, ideally you would go smaller on the hot side and use e85 to get power back through timing. Usually you use a hotside with a larger exducer like that on a v8 or something with more displacement.

So not ideal really.

I posted this in my project tread, but figure I'd put it here too. Here are some comparison pics I took. The turbine housing is being compared to an Audi K26 housing. The compressor housing is being compared to a Porsche K26/6 housing. I don't know if there is a difference between the Audi and Porsche compressor housings, so I wanted to make sure toet you know which one it is.

Yep! Billet anodized back plate. From what I can find, ITS was a pretty high end turbo back in their day.
