Vems target boost not changing? v.1.2.11 Update

Postby durq » Sun Sep 06, 2015 7:19 pm

Help Vems gurus!
I am a noob with vems but it seems that I must have an odd setting that is keeping my target boost from ever changing past 12kpa.

here is a log - ignore the fixed 50DC - I was working on setting the refDC table vs boost target. the boost target never moves....
The PID settings are "generic" right now too.

Thanks in advance!

It is because your boost PWM minimum and maximum values are both set to 50%.

Thanks for the answer Chris, you read these logs very well!
I was working on setting up the refDC table vs boost target which is why the PWM is fixed. Do you think that that keeps the boost target kpa reading at 12? It was only reading 12 kpa when I was using rpm/gear/speed based reference lookup also. I suppose I will just keep moving forward since things are behaving correctly- other than the boost target.

Oh, sorry! I must have read that wrongly this morning. I thought you were asking why the DC was stuck at 50. Apparently logs are about the only thing I read well

***Edit - Oops, figured it out, see below in bold*** Yes, I'm not quite sure about the answer to your real question then. I did notice that on the first go-around, but figured it'd be a question to tackle next time once you "solved" your 50% DC issue haha. It still may be worth trying to open those values up and see if that changes anything. I don't see why it would, but you never know.

The only other thing I can think of that would make sense is that it could be a firmware issue. Maybe try out the latest stable release? I wish I had a better answer, but I haven't seen this issue before and don't see anything in your settings which woul [/list]d normally lead to a problem like this.

Also, I just noticed that your MAT sensor is constantly reading 154 degrees C. That is not going to help the situation. In fact, I think that is exactly your problem. 8-)

That's funny that you saw that- I just noticed that too- It is the 3b sensor. I hope my ecu re-wire is not the problem. Looks like I will upgrade it. Do you think that the MAT would cause this even though it is disabled where ever it comes into play?

It isn't disabled. Only the open loop portion "Reducing refDC above EGT or MAT" is disabled. For closed loop control (which you have it set to run) the "Boost target reduction above MAT" is what is pulling the boost target. It will pull something like 4 kPa per degree C difference. If you want to test it you can just raise that value from 90C to something over what your sensor is reading.

So it turns out that the grounds for a few sensors (the 201 ground) for the AAN wiring that I did were not really grounded. And the fact that 1993 diagrams are different than 1994 diagrams didn't help. I grounded them and all is well. It was not VEMS and if were not for VEMS I wouldn't have found this problem. I am surprised that the other sensors worked.

Anyway, Thanks for all the suggestions!
