Xona turbos are great, it's a pretty even match up really. They are more compact, but they also don't come with the extra goodies the EFR does.

Hank runs the Xonas on his TT-RS kits like the IMS1000 and IMS850. If you have not heard of these, just do a little searching on those :)

Have any pics of your air filter setup you'd be willing to share?

Thanks a bunch!

Here are some photos of the air intake. Front of air intake touches front of right front fender well, goes up towards turbo and hooks around to front of turbo. Apologize for bad photos but using a manual focus Leica in one hand and flashlight in the other in a dark garage proved to be a challenge. Hope this helps!

Well, I give up, Imgur won't work right now.

Re: 1995.5 urS6 EFR 7163- New Parts and Flywheel PSA

Postby 955urs6 » Mon Mar 27, 2017 9:35 am

Just replaced these parts through Marc after removing trans:

Trans mounts
https://store.034motorsport.com/transmi ... 00-a6.html
034 Performance Snubnose mounts (there wasn't one installed at all !?!)
https://store.034motorsport.com/snub-mo ... thers.html
Clutch kit is in (7A style southbend stage 4 extreme, sachs 707pp and fidanza lightweight flywheel)

Turns out I didn't even have a lightweight flywheel yet, I can't wait to feel the response now that we've lightened er' up.

PSA: 7A style flywheels are thinner than AAN and don't use an AAN style pilot bearing. They use their own, larger diameter that goes in with two circlips.

Flywheel from Fidanza didn't come with a pilot bearing and had to be ordered.
7A style on the left, AAN on the right

@herbehop, here are the pictures of the air filter location. It buts up against the front of the right front fender well and 180s to the turbo.

For anyone curious about the clutch:

It has been installed and is in its' break-in period. The pedal effort is not much more than the stage 1 that was in it before. The engagement, however, is very touchy, but that was expected. The friction zone is very narrow but hey, this is a stage 4 extreme clutch, it is difficult to get off the line without some shudder. Loving the setup so far.

Next step: Swapping in a V8 Torsen rear differential and mounts/bushings, new brake pads/fluid and painting the left two doors. The clear coat is known to fail on these black cars and did on mine. I have two weeks to get it ready for a track weekend with the Michigan Audi club. Wish me luck! Here are some shots of the car:

So is the canister designed to keep the crap out of the switches and prolong their life? Tell more :)

you'll see the little stainless tube running off the #5 runner in his photo. that runs to the canister at the top. there is another port on the canister that is an adjustable pressure switch (we have it set around 12 psi as I recall). that switch runs to a standard 3 port MAC style valve that uses regular intake mainfold pressure to swing open his QSV. there is a second pressure switch on the canister that is set as a warning, pressure on that is around 35psi which lights up his CEL. there is a drain on the bottom of the canister in case it fills up with water (in our testing, it self evaporates so doesn't really need emptying). the VEMS is also t'd into the actuation pressure switch, I have it set to automatically open the valve over 5000 rpm as a failsafe. the port locations are setup to force the moisture to swirl to the bottom of the canister and not damage the switches.

all seems to work very well. pretty happy with how it turned out.

Re: 1995.5 URS6 EFR 7163 w/ QSV, E85 Track Update

Postby 955urs6 » Wed May 03, 2017 8:21 am

Well,

I finally took the S6 to the track. What an experience. First, I'm putting Toyo R888 on next time. I was at Grattan in Belding, MI, a fairly small track for this kind of car. The car performed flawlessly other than I cracked my right front rotor (as I got home from the weekend 2 hours north! lucky.) The guys there were all very impressed at Hank and Marc's craftsmanship and engineering. I had no problems with the car other than I had to empty the canister the pressure switches are attached to.

The Torsen Rear Diff I put in really put the power down, I had no issues getting out of corners. The second day in the rain (it was pouring) I was one of the fastest cars out there because now, I had the right tires. I didn't even really have to change my line that much when everyone else had to avoid the sealant and take a rain line.

In modifications, all that is left is the front rotors, and we think that power steering pump may be bad because my brake light keeps going on and we know it isn't the accumulator (brake bomb). The power steering pump also supplies pressure for the braking system so that could be the culprit.

Here are a couple pictures from the weekend. Such a great experience- I kept up with a 500hp B8.5 S4 on R compounds, at least on the straight. Almost time to turn up the boost to 35psi! On a side note, how do I edit the title of my project rather than just the post?

Hot damn, how did I miss the EMBP setup posts. Thanks for that info Marc, that's exactly the setup we want for dad's 07k. Pulling it off of one of the runners is better than the collector? I guess it should read the same...

And nice work at the track, Cameron. These cars are heavy as balls but it's still fun going to the track to mess around. Did you/Marc ever dyno this car in the end?

Re: 1995.5 URS6 EFR 7163 w/ QSV, E85 DYNO SHEETS

Postby 955urs6 » Thu May 04, 2017 7:51 am

Matt,

It was a blast at the track. I had Cooper Zeon RS3-As on which are an all season leaning summer tire- it was not ideal in the dry, so Toyo R888s for next year. In the wet, they were awesome- I was still able to his 125 on the straight and not hydroplane like everyone else... I've attached the final dyno sheets, the car is currently detuned because I havn't redone the tune since then new clutch. Marc tuned it for the stage 1 clutch that was in the car at the time so it could hold it. 420whp on E85 and 360whp on pump, 26psi and 24 psi, respectively. In 2 weeks Marc is remote tuning it up to 35psi! I'll eventually get to a dyno downstate but am in no hurry.

Not sure why the boost says it comes on so late on the dyno, but on the street it is around 3500.

Good numbers, but wait until we add 10-12 lbs of boost! @mushasho, yes, the load on the street is different so spool is much sooner. It normally isn't 1000 rpm, but anecdotally yeah, boost hits closer to 3500 than 4000 for me on the street. I'll eventually re-dyno it when we turn everything up to 35psi.
